Greg McDermott
Options Analyst
Greg is a veteran trader with three decades of experience as a floor trader himself and managing floor trading operations for market-making firms. In addition, he is an experienced financial educator having taught a graduate level course in Derivatives and an undergraduate course in Markets and Institutions at Saint Joseph’s University, and a graduate-level course in International Financial Management at Delaware Valley College.
Prior to Market Rebellion, he managed an off-floor trading desk, ran the PHLX Floor Trading Unit, managed the off-floor staff and qualified an International Securities Exchange (ISE) DTR for JAS Securities’ Partners. Before that he traded on the AMEX and PHLX Floors as a market-maker with Rockrimmon Securities. He was responsible for hiring and training all floor personnel, monitoring each market maker’s intra-day risk, inter-day risk and hedging the PHLX group’s overnight risk. In addition to managing the firm’s floor trading operation, he was a market maker in Dell Computer options, one of the busiest equity options in the country. He began his long trading career as a Clerk for Interactive Brokers on the floor of the American Stock Exchange in XMI Index and Equity Options, and Trader at the New York Mercantile Exchange working on Crude Oil Options & Futures.
Greg earned his BS in Financial Management from Saint Joseph’s University, and a Masters in Applied Finance (MAppFin) at Macquarie University’s Centre for Money and Banking in Sydney, Australia.
